Om Group’s initial years focused on catering to the automotive industry and helping companies source raw materials for their inbound supplies in early 90’s thus pioneering the term ‘logistics’ and introducing ‘Om Logistics Limited’ in 1999. Dedicated arm of inbound logistics was born.
During the course of handling Inbound Logistics, the company also forayed into Air Cargo to fulfill urgent requirements. For this purpose, the company partnered with Indian Airlines, Modiluft and Sahara to eliminate the concept of cooling time of 24 hours, through X-Ray Scanning before release.
Over a period, OEMs domestic components sourcing increased and thus reducing imports. With this, requirements of warehousing cropped up and OEMs sought for Just in Time (JIT) delivery i.e. warehousing of material close to plants and delivery Just in time, when required. This lead the company to venture into warehousing too.
Thus in 2000, with entry into EXIM cargo under “Omtrans Logistics Limited” to cater to international freight forwarding, Om Group became the first ever Indian organization offering End to End Supply chain management under a single banner.
