1983 was the year Om Group’s venture into the automotive industry took off. With the inception of Maruti, came the opportunity to grab a public tender for transportation of CKD imports from Mumbai to Gurugram. Post an initial struggle, the company came up with an innovative and efficient way to transport the CKD kits from Kandla, opening the doors to massive success. 

A year of brainstorming, with prototype undergoing almost 50 odd changes before going final seal of approval, the company also introduced the first car carrier in 1983 for transportation of Finished Maruti Cars. Before this invention, new cars would be driven to dealers. 

This wasn’t it, however great the innovation, the company faced a stiff challenge as there was a mismatch of demand and supply against production of cars and truck availability. This problem was resolved when they managed to get return loads for these dedicated car carriers from M/s Bajaj Scooters, Pune, which catalyzed the viability of doing business.
